SoftLINK File and Folder Locations

Tutor Console

What Data Files are used by the Tutor Console and where are they stored?

The below list includes the default files that host the relevant SoftLINK functions:

• Client List File – Client.nss
• Group List File – Group.nss
• Application File – SoftLink Class Control.app
• Website File – SoftLink Class Control.web
• Survey File – SoftLink Class Control.sul
• Layout File – _Default.lyt
• Word List File – SoftLink Class Control.wdl

These files will be stored in the default path and this can differ depending on the Operating System version.

Note: These are the default paths, the location for each file is configurable to enable these file to be re-directed to a different path.

What Folders are used by the Tutor Console?

Where does the Tutor Console store its configuration?

By default the SoftLINK Tutor Console will store its configuration within the user location of the registry in the following location:

Student

Where does the Student store its configuration?

Windows 7/Vista/XP:  C:Program FilesSoftLINK Class Controlclient32.ini

Note: If you have a x64 bit operating system then this will reside within the Program Files (x86) path.

Tech Console

Where does the Tech Console store its configuration?

By default the SoftLINK Tech Console stores its information in the User location of the registry in the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareNetSupport LtdPCICTLConfigListSoftLink Tech Console

The file paths for the Tech Console will be:

• Client List File – Client.nst
• Group List File – Group.nst

These files will be stored in the default path and this can differ depending on the Operating System version.
