Summary
SoftLINK allows instructors to remotely connect to trainee devices. These connections require communication over certain ports. If the instructor’s device is unable to connect to trainee devices after an installation, check to see if any endpoint security, antivirus, or network filtering is present on your devices or network. If they are, open up the appropriate ports as described below.
Details
Tutor Console (Instructor) Ports Used
5405 – Both TCP and UDP are used to Browse and connect to client workstations
5421 – Multicast/Broadcast Show and File Distribution features
5421 – Listens for auto reconnections from client workstations
7 or 9 – Standard Wake-On-LAN ports used for Power on feature
Client (Student) Ports Used
5405 – Listens for connection requests from the Tutor or Tech Consoles
Tech Console Ports Used
5405 – Both TCP and UDP are used to Browse and connect to client workstations
7 or 9 – Standard Wake-On-LAN ports used for Power on feature
Name and Connectivity Server (NCS)
443 – Default port Tutor & Tech Consoles and client workstations will communicate to NCS over
3085 – Recommended port to use if NCS is installed and operating on a Windows Server OS
