Converting SoftLINK Replay files to Alternative Formats

Summary
In SoftLINK version 11, Replay files can now be converted into video files allowing them to be played outside of SoftLINK on a wide range of media players. Replay files can be converted to WMV or AVI formats.
Details
To convert a Replay File you will need to follow the steps below:
1. Select {School}{Replay Files} from the SoftLINK Tutor Console window
2. When the Replay Files dialog is displayed, highlight the replay files to be converted and click on the Convert File icon.
3. When the Replay conversion wizard appears click on Next
4. When the Replay Conversion Setup dialog appears you will have the option to select the Quality Conversion (Windows Media) or the Quick Conversion (AVI). Please select your option.
Note: By default the replay file will be automatically saved or sent to my Recording Folder ( C:Users Name of User account My Documents My Recordings). By default the Destination file will be created in the same location where the source of the replay file was selected from. However, you can change the Destination location for the video files.
5. Under the Destination Video File section click on the Browse button of where the output of the video file is to be populated.
6. Once you click on the Next button it will take you to the Conversion Process dialog screen and automatically begin the conversion process.
7. Once the conversion process has completed the dialog will automatically switch to the Finish Conversion Page “Replay Conversion Complete” select Finish to dismiss the dialog.
Using the Replay Conversion Utility
SoftLINK Replay File Conversion Utility can be accessed via Select {Start}{Programs}{SoftLINK Class Control}{SoftLINK Class Control Replay Conversion}. The Replay File Conversion Utility contains two major features namely ‘Single Conversion‘ and ‘Batch Conversion‘. This conversion utility provides the teacher with advanced options to convert replay files to video files, control video resolution, audio quality, start and end points of the video and much more.
Note: The Replay conversion utility is installed by default when installing the SoftLINK Tutor or Tech Console. You can also install the utility as a standalone component.
Single Conversion
1. Under the File section click on the Browse button and navigate to the location of the Replay File you wish to convert.
2. By default the Destination file will be created in the same location where the source of the replay file was selected from. However if you wish you can change the Destination location of where the video file is to be populated.
3. Under the Destination Video File section click on the Browse button of where the output of the video file is to be populated.
4. Then within the encoding section you will notice the two options available:
- Windows Media (asf, wmv)
- AVI (avi)
5. Select which video codec to use and set the required properties by clicking on the ‘Configure‘ button opposite to Windows Media or AVI.
6. Once you have clicked on the ‘Configure‘ button the SoftLINK Windows Media Profile Editor / or the AVI Audio and Video Compression Section will be displayed allowing you to tweak and fine-tune the Video and Audio settings.
7. The Conversion Settings Section allows you to modify and tweak the Video conversion settings.
8. Once you have configured the replay file you can Starts the Encoding Conversion Progress. You can Pause or Stop the encoding if required.
Batch Conversion
Batch Conversion is the same as the Single Conversion procedure. The only difference is you can select Multiple Replay files to be converted at the same time using the same procedures above.
